What is “Mindfull”?

Mindfull is a non-profit organization that gives information about anxiety and mindfulness. Based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Mindfull is run by people who have been struggling with anxiety for most of their lives and who have found many resources on how to manage it.

Our website, ads, and brochure are filled with information that tells the user about anxiety and how people are affected by it differently than others. It gives facts about the human brain and why it’s such an integral part of anxiety, the different types of anxiety, and when it begins to show up more regularly in people’s lives. Another thing we do is give information about mindfulness. Mindfulness is the greatest weapon that people can use to combat anxiety. The website and ads give tips on the different types of mindfulness people can use to reduce anxiety.

Proposal

People who struggle with mental health are becoming a modern-day crisis throughout society and it appears to be becoming more of a problem. The World Health Organization estimates that 1 out of every 4 adults around the world will deal with at least one form of mental illness in their lives. Around 350 million people suffer from depression worldwide. Among the various forms of mental illnesses that are hurting people is anxiety, especially younger people. I am going to do an anxiety awareness campaign called “Mindfull” which is targeted mainly toward young adults.

The main piece of this campaign will be the website, which covers important information about anxiety among college students and guides them to reliable sources that dive deeper into the subject. It will also contain helpful resources on handling anxiety such as links to mindfulness apps, podcasts, and routines they can use during those college years.

My target audience will be people in college, specifically those between the ages of 18-24. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey, around a third of adults (32.3%) reported symptoms of anxiety and depression in 2023. Almost half of them (49.9%) were between the ages of 18-24. An estimated 31.1% of adults in the U.S. have anxiety disorder at some point in their lives. While a lot of this project is geared toward college students, a lot of the tips and facts can be used by people of all ages.

Objectives

  • To independently research, design, and produce a logo, website, website, posters, brochure, and Instagram tiles for Mindfull, an organization that raises awareness about anxiety and how it’s affecting young adults.

  • To research information about anxiety and how college students are affected by it in order to use it in each component of the project.

  • To implement past knowledge learned about design and putting logo, website, type, ad, and brochure design into the project based on the research.

  • To break down all the self-critiques throughout the design process in order to successfully use them in the final design.

  • To measure all the critiques received from the class by classmates and teachers and apply them to the designs if necessary.

  • To build a functional project that gives useful information about anxiety.

  • To produce a design that works on all the deliverables and can convey its message.

Logo Process Work

FINAL DESIGN

Process

The process of making this project began with a lot of brainstorming. I made several different logos, all with different themes relating to mindfulness. I ended up using a dove as the logo because it symbolized peace. I named the organization “Mindfull” because it had a double meaning relating to my project. It’s a short term for mindfulness and having a full mind when overwhelmed with anxiety-related thoughts. The main font I used for the logo was Mundial because it combined several different San serifs and had a more modern appearance to it. I used the “Hair” style of Mundial because it gave the logo a more calming look to it, instead of a bold font that felt like it was yelling. I chose a dark green as the primary color in my project because it represents an internal growth in people and it worked well with the logo, giving it a more outdoors appearance.

The components of my project are the website, poster ads, brochure, and Instagram Tiles. The website is the main component and was made to provide information about anxiety in general, how anxiety affects college students, and mindfulness. The poster ads were designed with a similar concept to motivational posters. It’s meant to motivate people and provide brief information about key components of mindfulness like listening to music, meditating, and doing physical activities. The brochure has anxiety information and can be taken with someone all over the place. The Instagram tiles promote the website and offers motivational quotes from key figures.

About The Website

The website was made in Adobe XD. It was split into two halves when making it. The first half was the information about anxiety in general and how college students go through it. The second half was the different mindfulness resources that the viewer could use to manage their anxiety, such as the different routines, apps, and podcasts they can utilize. Research

To give people accurate information about anxiety and mindfulness, I needed to do a lot of research. In my research, I looked at information on anxiety overall, how the human brain is involved with it, why college students are affected by it so much, and how mindfulness is helpful. One of my biggest inspirations for this project was Rob Dial, who runs a podcast called the “Mindset Mentor” where he talks about all the different ways someone can reduce anxiety by using mindfulness techniques and just thinking more positively.

For the overall design of my project, I did research on certain colors and types that I believed would work well. For the color, I looked up colors and what each of them meant in terms of emotions and life. For the type, I wanted to use a more modern style that would appeal to the young adult demographic. I used all sans serif throughout the project due to its clean and straightforward design that I thought a young adult would find visually interesting.
